I scour and hunt for fabulous vintage treasures for you…
Every time I score a great item, it gives me a rush like a heroin addict…my heart beating loud in my chest at the register-visualizing the unknowing clerk snatching the item out of my hand while saying “ Do you realize that this is a rare vintage 50’s coat ?!! ”
I often find myself running back to the car squealing in delight with each special find.
Vintage clothing, like fine wine, gets better with time. You look at the item, marvel at the construction and the breathtaking fabric, and you hold it tight-because another one exactly like it will never pass through your fingers again…and you buy it even if it doesn’t fit because you just have to have it!
Who would have thought that my passion for vintage clothing would take over my life?
Those who know me well know that I have been a fashionista since I was a little girl. I made handmade doll clothes from my mother’s hem scraps. I designed and sketched whole collections when I was eleven, and inevitably made fashion my career.
I started wearing and collecting vintage clothing in my teens rummaging for great finds in local stores. One such store was Rudy’s thrift shop in my Brooklyn neighborhood on Atlantic Avenue where I found an amazing Norman Norell jacket, and a beautiful cream wool Givenchy pencil skirt…and thus started my love affair with vintage. (I still have those wonderful pieces in my personal collection although they no longer fit me!)
I‘ve been designing in the Fashion Industry for the past 25 years, traveling the world looking for the latest trends and designing various items ranging from ladies clothing to children’s wear for Guess, and most recently as Design Director for Rocawear girls to name a few.
When my son sold a pair of sneakers on eBay in 2 days, it gave me the idea to get rid of some things I didn’t want. I once again started hitting thrift shops and began finding amazing items and couldn’t pass them up so I would put them on eBay, and my customers were satisfied. Then one day I put my 80’s Betsey Johnson printed spandex top up for auction and the response was tremendous!
I was obsessed!!! Soon I was shopping weekly and before I knew it, my basement was full of vintage. I began to experience what most vintage collectors describe as the inability to stop buying vintage clothing, and Spoonbread VintEdge was born.
I love all things vintage- clothing, art, and furniture. Things were crafted with love and pride back then and it shows. That’s why vintage is so special and has become trendy in recent years.
With a keen eye for style, and a love for clothing,I started Spoonbread VintEdge straight out of Brooklyn, New York to bring you treasures both vintage and new to suit your unique personal style.
